Warm Weather Tips

Warm Weather Woes: Keeping your Milk Cold During Warmer Months

These are tips to keep your delivery items cold through the warmer months!

Freeze water bottles or 2L bottles. Keep them 2/3 of the way full to make sure they don’t explode.

Put your coolers out the night before and by midnight to make sure you get your delivery.

Put extra ice in your cooler to keep milk cold.

Try to use one pound of ice per quart size. Larger ice cubes, blocks of ice, or ice substitutes melt slower than small cubes or shaved ice.

If you order ice cream, make sure you have a separate cooler with dry ice. Make sure you have a lock box for dry ice. Lock boxes are available for purchase or rental through SMC.

Line coolers with aluminized bubble wrap. This keeps the heat out and the cold air inside.

Cut into pieces to line the inside of the cooler, including the top and lid.

Keep your cooler out of direct sunlight and away from warm areas, since can occur as early as 12am and as late as 7pm.
